Solar Panels are in the Wash this week

17 Dec

A rainy week in LA, a rare occurrence for Angelenos who are used to so many blue skies. Aside from the usual comment that “we needed it” it’s also good news for solar panels. Yes, good news, the panels are now clean.

Solar panels (or modules) absorb sunshine, the sunshine excites electrons in the panels which start moving along creating an electric current. When the panels are clean these electron see more light, which they can perform better cleaner. That’s why when you ask a solar installer such as California Green Designs about solar maintenance, they recommend you wash them at least once in the summer. The rest of the year a good day of rain will clean them up for you.

So what so you have to do to wash a panel, rinse them down, just like the rain does.
